Portfolio
Here are some samples of my web development work.

The Nielsen Gallery. The Gallery, founded in 1963, is committed to exhibiting and supporting contemporary artists whose personal visions resist categorization. The Gallery managed its exhibitions, artist roster, publications, and available works through a series of error-prone and cumbersome static files. Administration was a nightmare. I built a custom content management system based on object-oriented PHP 5 and MySQL 5 to manage the total lifecycle of their exhibitions. |

The Community Technology Center's AmeriCorps VISTA Project. The CTC VISTA Project places AmeriCorps VISTA members in community technology centers across the country to help bridge the digital divide. I built the organization application and reporting system back-end using PHP, MySQL, Javascript and CSS – including AJAX. The system enables organizations to create and track multiple applications & reports, submit their applications & reports electronically to the Project, and download PDFs of any application or report. In April 2007, the CTC VISTA Project Application and Reporting System won Grassroot.org's Techie Award for "pioneering contributions in non-profit online applications development." |

The Dispute Resolution Program at UMass Boston. The Graduate Programs in Dispute Resolution are designed to provide students with insights and skills for managing conflict. I collaborated with a designer to come up with a new look for the website and then created Dreamweaver templates for use with Adobe Contribute. The News and Events section of the website is dynamic; the content is controlled by Movable Type and an email-to-blog plug-in. |

The College of Public and Community Service at UMass Boston. CPCS provides an empowering and effective education to people who are committed to working for social justice and who want to promote positive development in their communities. CPCS hired a designer to overhaul the website and develop Dreamweaver templates. I administered the site via Adobe Contribute (setting up groups, issuing connection keys, configuring administrative parameters, training new users, distributing documentation) and handled site-wide updates via Dreamweaver. |

The Community Technology Center's AmeriCorps VISTA Project. The CTC VISTA Project places AmeriCorps VISTA members in community technology centers across the country to help bridge the digital divide. The CTC VISTA website required several avenues for user-generated content as well as an organization-wide directory: blogs (Movable Type), photo galleries (gallery), discussion forums (phpBB2), a calendar (WebCalendar), and wiki (pmwiki). An LDAP directory provided VISTAs, alumni, and supervisors one username and password to access these services, and custom scripts allowed users to update their profiles via the web. |

The Community Technology Review. The Community Technology Review was a periodical magazine on the web and in print which chronicled the world of community technology. The CTR uses a modified version of Movable Type and a third-party comment moderation queue plug-in. A designer revamped the look of the site, and I exported the articles from a previous database and imported them into MT. The domain name was also moved from one provider to another. Finally, visitors may buy back issues of the CTR via PayPal, an e-commerce provider. |
